First Saturday

Both Nicole and Gavin are doing well. Nicole has lots more energy and feels more like a real person after major surgery. Gavin is his usual easy-going self, and he loves to cuddle with his mom.

So, after the first of what will surely be many sleepless nights, we woke up to a very happy little guy ready to get after his first weekend day. Saturdays are usually our busiest family day of the week, and Gavin showed he's ready to play along.

Gavin met lots of new people, as we were fortunate enough to have many of our great friends stop by. Thanks again to everyone, including the Dennis family, the Woods family, Lindsey, Nate, Kathleen, Rhanda, Kai, Gladys, Susie and Erin for coming to see our new little man. He even met a new buddy, Dylan, who promised to show him the ropes on how to be cool on a hot Orange County day.

We also lucked out, and got a great room at Hoag, with views of the harbor, the beach and the ocean all right out our own window. Gavin seems to like the sailboats that have been zipping up and down the harbor all day. Dad promised to teach him how to sail as soon as he is able.

The First Day and Night

Gavin had a great first night. Although he's not big into eating, he has, for the moment, mastered the art of sleep. Last night he slept, napped, snoozed, cat-napped, snored, dreamed and basically passed out. He'd had a rough day! Mom and dad even got some sleep, too.

Here are a few more pictures from his first day.

He's Here!

We met the newest addition to our family today, our son, Gavin James. He was born at 10:32 a.m., weighing in at a solid 8 pounds 8 ounces, and is 20 inches long (tall?). Both Nicole and Gavin are doing well, and the c-section came off without a hitch. We are so excited to finally have him here! Thanks to all of our friends and family for the kind notes and calls.

Twelve Hours and Counting

So, 12 hours and counting, and Mom and Dad went out for one last dinner before Pepe, er, Gavin arrives. They seem very excited, and so am I. I wonder what he will look like? Will he have paws like me? A tail? Probably...

When they got back they told me that they that I'm supposed to take very good care of him. I will. Stay tuned for pictures of my new little buddy tomorrow. ~ Gus

A Perfect Summer

We have enjoyed the time before Gavin's arrival by spending time with great friends, our OC family. It has been a perfect summer.

Savannah Jane seems particularly interested in Gavin's toes.

The picnics at Inspiration Point have been really fun.

Although, it seems Gavin will have to watch out for the older women CDM is famous for once he arrives...

Gus's Welcome

Welcome to the Lindsey Family blog. We are starting this blog since there will be a new addition to the family later this week. I'm not sure why we didn't start this blog years ago to talk about all of my adventures. There would have been a lot to talk about - Gus at the beech, Gus at the dog park, Gus on a car ride, etc. I'm just hoping I will still be included in these family adventures with this thing that my parents are now referring to as Gavin James Lindsey. I'm confused because for the past 10 months they have been calling him Pepe - I guess that was just his nickname.

My parents have been getting ready for Pepe (I mean Gavin's) arrival for months now... He even has his own room - one that I am not allowed to go into. It is so tempting too - there are all these toys that look like mine. There is this lion that just stares at me asking for me to play with him. But like I said that room is off limits. I'm just waiting for the lion to leave that room and then he is fair game.

I think this thing they call Gavin is in my moms tummy right now or she has just been putting on a lot of weight these past few months. Besides the fact that it is harder to sit on her lap and that she moves a little more slowly than usual our routine hasn't changed much. I hear her talk about having an easy pregnancy - which I suppose is a good thing. I'm just happy I'm still getting my walks.. That better not change.

It sounds like I am heading to Boneadventure (doggie daycare) later this week - I guess my folks are heading to the hospital for the birth of Gavin. Apparently a few weeks ago they discovered that Gavin had flipped over into a breech position so they scheduled a C Section for this Thursday, July 28th.

Here are a few pictures of Gavin's room. It looks good to me but I guess the dresser is missing (I didn't notice but I have heard my mom on the phone a few times and she is not happy with whoever she is talking to).
